Start Your Own Avocado PlantThe next time you make guacamole, take the avocado pit (often called the stone) and push the flat end into a six-inch pot of moist, multi-purpose soil. Leave the pointy end exposed.
Make sure to keep the plant at about 65° F until the first leaf shoots appear. Aftet that, it likes normal room temperatures with slightly cooler temperatures (60° F) in winter.
To encourage upward growth, pinch off new buds when they appear below the top leaves on the plant stalk. With proper care, in three years your Avocado will grow to an elegant, large-leaved houseplant about 3 feet tall.

I learned a lot about avocado planting from this one certain book…

I think I’m going to try this. Though plants just don’t seem to last in our house…(Ahem, cough, BEE, cough).

My White-Bodied Ocean Oddity

The most disturbing part of my dreams from last night involved a hard-shelled crustacean being cracked open while still alive, bled out, and devoured at an upscale restaurant, causing me to flee from the table weeping and nauseated.

I watched a spider spin a tiny web between blades of grass. It originally attempted this act on my body, lowering itself in front of my face after many failed endeavors. Thank you for believing me to be a worthy temple for your trials.

Within the Well

There are times when I look at this life outside of myself and I cannot grasp that it is my own. I am so grateful for you; all of you. And to know that you are for me is more than I could ever hope for. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

I tried to live true to myself.

“You’re just like an alien,” someone said to me one day. They must have been telling me, “You’re not normal.”

In other words, apparently “living true to yourself” means “living as an alien.” And so I became “an alien all alone in this world.”
